Be part of something really amazing.
Godalming Scouts is made possible by volunteers. We're helping young people gain Skills for Life, and we need your help.
Introducing the activity leaders, skill sharers, tea makers, minibus drivers, permit holders, money managers and badge buyers who make scouts happen.
There's a way to volunteer that's right for everyone. Whatever skills you have and whatever time you can give.
  • Flexible volunteering
There are ways to be involved with whatever time you can spare.
  • No experience necessary
You don't need to know how to put up a tent or light a campfire to volunteer.
  • Make a difference
You'll be helping to shape young people's lives for the better.
You'll get so much out of it, and have a great time too.
There's nothing like that feeling of doing good. As well as making a positive impact, you'll have a lot of fun along the way. When you volunteer with us at Godalming Scouts, you'll be making lifelong memories.

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to have been a scout as a kid?

Nope. You don't need to have any previous experience of scouting to become a volunteer.

So if you don't know how to light a fire or put up a tent, that's totally fine.

Can parents or family members volunteer with their child's group?

Absolutely! Many of our volunteers also have children involved in scouts too. To find out about volunteering in your child's group, speak to the leaders or group scout leader.

If you need help finding the right person to speak to, get in touch.

What support is available for volunteers?

All volunteers take part in some training to get up to speed with everything they need to know for their role.

You'll also have a line manager too. They'll be on hand to provide support and guidance when you need it.

What about volunteering for under 18s?

There are plenty of ways to volunteer if you aren't yet 18 years old. The young leader's scheme is designed to help you get started with volunteering at scouts.

"Becoming a scout volunteer helped me develop leadership skills which I now use every day as part of my job"
